2008 Holiday Boogie

Upon arriving in Eloy I ran into Craig. I hadn't seen Criag since sometime around 1995. He turned around, a gigantic smile on his face and he threw his arms around me giving me a huge bear hug. We were at manifest & he immediately let everyone know that we've known each other longer than he's known anyone else at the dropzone. It's true. I first met Craig when I was a sophomore in high school. He arrived at my hometown community days via parachute. In reality he showed up as a 4 man skydiving team in a UH-1H Huey helicopter from Ft. Lewis, WA. They were jumping into my hometown community days celebration. As a kid, the thought of jumping out of an helicopter seemed unreachable. Yet, in less than 4 years there I was on a bus sitting next to Craig on our way to the airplane. The trip to Arizona was a not to miss experience. I must remember that these are the experiences I earn my vacation day to experience. Spending several days making relaxing jumps with my closest friends is what life is all about. The Holiday Boogie was an opportunity for many of the Byron jumpers otherwise known in Eloy as the Byron Army to experience jumping out of what are now considered "exotic" aircraft. We jumped the DC3.The Beech 18.The Pilatus Porter.and a hot air balloon.
